Here's a few from a shoot I did with my fabulous niece Jordan. The concept I had about this came about while thinking about Jordan's creative spirit that she's got going on right now. The girl loves to draw, and paint, and create. I talked her into doing a few in her hanbok (a traditional dress of South Korea) before she got really messy and became part of her own piece of work. It was a fun afternoon!

Jeremy and I met with Adam and Erin in the tropical Botanical Gardens of Des Moines. This is always an enjoyable place to be, especially when it's so frigid outside! We enjoyed our morning warming up inside the dome and then headed over to our beautiful Capitol building. A huge thank you to Erin's mom for coming along and assisting us, and to the tour guide that spent the time helping us out! It was a perfect setting for our couple! Adam and Erin are on opposite sides of the country thanks to their military service, so they were extra sweet on each other and made the session so much fun! We are so excited to photograph their ceremony this May!

We had a small session with Todd and Sara and daughter Dakota a few months back, but I asked them to spend just a little more time with us. It is hard to believe that this session was shot in January, it almost looks warm, doesn't it? They were both great about the chilly temps and we got a lot of great moments between the two of them. Todd and Sara will be married in just a couple months, we are excited to be shooting their wedding in a gorgeous little getaway near Reasoner, Iowa!

I think 9 months old is my favorite time to photograph babies. They are sitting up, starting to show more personality, and they usually aren't able to run away from me quite yet! We were going for something a little similar to what we did for her big sister's 9 month session, and I think we hit the mark. Aumriee did wonderful for us, and was in the best spirits for her shoot. I love this first one of her, so timeless. She is such a beautiful girl!
She got a little crazy on us! I love it. Mom got her changed into one more outfit before Aumriee decided she was about done with me. She did a great job and I really enjoyed my morning with her!

Jed and Jessica celebrated their almost 2 year marriage with friends and family last month. They actually were married officially not quite 2 years ago- with a very small, very quiet ceremony. So quiet that I had just found out on this day that we had done their engagement pictures on their actual wedding day! Sneaky kids. Almost 2 years later and the families were finally able to gather together and celebrate this amazing couple!
Congratulations to Jed and Jessica!

It was almost a week before Christmas, and all through the office
Were boxes and boxes all stacked amiss!
Prints, wraps, books all wrapped up. . .
Into their boxes and waiting for pickup.
It's time to celebrate a special time of year.
Because ready or not, Christmastime is here!
We are closing up shop for just a couple weeks,
but don't you fret, next year we will bring you many new treats!
From Selma, from Louis, from Mo and the humans here too. .
Merry Christmas to all of you!
Our last order of the year will be arriving today, but you can still get gift certificates for a last minute gift! As a gift to all our last minute shoppers, we are including a 25.00 gift card for the person who purchases 50.00 or more in gift certificates!
You all made it an awesome year for us. So many wonderful families that we met this year. . . And we aren't even done yet! Just one more wedding event to come before the year is over! We will not see most of you again until next year, so Jeremy and I want to wish you many blessings this holiday season, and we are looking forward to working with all of you in 2012!

We photographed Todd and Sara at Stoney Point in Reasonor, Iowa. It is a farm just outside of town that has converted a barn into an event place. Very quaint, very rustic, and just a very beautiful place! We will be capturing Todd and Sara's wedding ceremony there, so we thought it would be good to check the place out. This is also a marriage bringing together 3 people, so we included Todd's daughter in many of the images. She is so adorable! I almost had her loosening up and getting comfortable with me toward the end of the session, but maybe she was just compliant to satisfy me so I would leave her alone?? Possibly! Todd and Sara will be married in March, when we will have a miraculous heat wave that will take care of any snow we might have. Actually, I think Stoney Point will look gorgeous in any season, so we are looking forward to the wedding, whether we have sunshine or a blizzard!

Well, we are just finishing up with the last few albums and orders from the busy wedding season, and starting to work with brides for the next season! Now that we've slowed down a bit, we have been looking back on what we've captured in the past year, and Jeremy and I realized we have been blessed with another year of awesome couples! Not only has each couple been wonderful, we have met so many great families through the weddings we cover. It's an amazing feeling to be taken in as part of the family for a day, when most of them have never met us. . . alright, that's enough warm fuzzies for one post! We are just truly thankful for our clients and appreciate your support so much.
We emailed a newsletter a little while ago, and if you did not receive it but would like to receive future mailings, please let us know! We are currently asking for help, and in exchange we are giving away gift cards for your efforts! If you did not receive any information, and would like to earn a little credit, just tell us and we'll send you more information! Plus, you may also be eligible to win a 16x20 canvas wrap!
As we all prepare to winterize ourselves for the season and prepare for the upcoming holidays, orders needed by Christmas day need to be finalized by December 10th. Anything after that date is taking a chance, so don't wait much longer!
Jeremy and I both wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving Day, and I hope each of you that have touched our lives in any way will be as thankful and blessed as we have been this year! It has been great to get to know so many new people, and seeing familiar faces from the past years is always a pleasure! Can't wait to see what's in store for us next year!

These 2 lovely ladies are the daughters of my very dear friend from high school. Emma, the oldest, is almost as old as her mom when I first met her. It's been amazing to watch these girls grow and see so much of their mother in them. On this day we photographed them in the home that their great-grandfather lived in when he was a child. We had a wonderful session - perfect setting and gorgeous girls!
The first image is one that Ellie actually took. I was pretty impressed, as she could barely hold up the camera on her own, so I kept it and worked with it a bit. . . and I think we have a new assistant!
