Aaron and Fallon - Married!

We had a great day at Aaron and Fallon's wedding!  This awesome couple was referred to us by another couple we had photographed a couple years ago, which is always the best compliment to us, and even better when the couple was one of our favorites and both was a part of this wedding party! 

The ceremony was at the Ankeny United Methodist Chuch, which is a beautiful building!  Aaron and Fallon wanted to follow tradition and did not want to see each other before the ceremony, but we were able to get a couple shots with the 2 of them anyway. . . we just separated them with a wall!  Before we set up the shots, I asked Fallon if she would be ok if I asked them to hold hands around the wall.  She said she was afraid she might cry if Aaron just touched her!  How sweet are they???

Speaking of sweet, I included a couple shots from the signing of the certificate.  Some of my favorites from the day, I love the one shot of the 2 of them smiling at each other, and the way Fallon is holding onto Aaron. . .  but so many wonderful moments that day, with such an awesome group of people.

Matt and Valerie - Engaged

Jeremy and I traveled to Iowa City to meet Matt and Valerie for their session.  We don't usually travel that far for a session, but the couple will also be married on the U of I campus, so we wanted to check out the locations before their special day.  The weather was threatening rain, but it turned out to be a pretty perfect day, with just a few raindrops while we were shooting.  Matt and Valerie brought along daughter Natalie to join in the on the fun for a bit, and then off we went to catch some really fun and wonderful shots of Matt and Valerie! 

We are really excited for this wedding, as they were so ready to do anything we asked of them. . . including not one or two, but quite a few of what we call "the cheese shots."  And they did well amusing me.  Here's a few from the session.  The last couple shots are with Danforth Chapel, where they will be married.  I believe this will be the tiniest church that we have had the privilege to photograph so far!  And we are looking forward to it!

Josh and Carrie - Married!

When we prepare for a wedding, the day before the big day we'll be busy cleaning equipment, charging batteries, formatting cards, etc.  I usually wake up pretty late due to working late in the night/early into the morning hours.  For this big day, we had to start preparing about a week in advance, as we needed to start at 6:30 in the morning!  One of our earliest morning weddings ever, but it was so worth getting my body used to waking up before the sun is up! 

We started at the hotel where the couple was already preparing for the day.  They chose the Ramada Tropics Resort in Des Moines to stay in, where the reception would also be held later.  I admit, I wasn't quite awake when I arrived, because it took me about an hour to realize how much the theme of the hotel fit into the theme of their ceremony location - tropical!  (Jeremy had to clue me in a little bit. . .  it was early!) We headed over to the Botanical Center for the ceremony, which was just as beautiful as always!  The area of the ceremony was decorated with party balls and white lights, which just added to the magic of the event. 

Josh and Carrie were an awesome couple to work with!  They were relaxed and having fun all morning, and Carrie looked gorgeous in her gown, which is impressive for anyone to pull off that early in the morning!  And we enjoyed capturing the little looks, the slight grins, and private laughs between these 2.  A couple that not only loves one another, but likes and enjoys each other, and you can't help but feel all that when you are in a room with them together!

Todd and Sara - Married

Todd and Sara were married last month at the Stony Point in Reasnor, Iowa.  The country theme of the venue tied very nicely into the couple's theme.  It was also very nice that we had decent temps and no snow as the venue was definitely off the beaten path. . . or maybe in this day we should say that was located on a beaten path. . .  but it is a gorgeous area tucked away in central Iowa!

Sara looked stunning in her dress, and I loved the fun boots she wore!  One of my favorite moments of the day was the first look.  When Jeremy and I arrived, Todd and Sara were in the same area of each other, and Todd was able to watch Sara while she had her hair done.  She assured me she still wanted to do a first look moment when she was dressed.  Even though Todd had seen the dress and his beautiful bride before she was dressed, he still looked so surprised when he saw her in the dress!   Sara did look perfect in that dress, and he looked at her in total adoration, and as if he was seeing her for the first time that day.

These are the moments that I especially love about my job!

Jax - 9 Months Old

I have gotten behind with posting on the blog, but I still wanted to share a couples things that we've been up to!  I had a great session with Jax last month, and here's a few from that session.  I purchased this backdrop specifically with this guy in mind, hoping to compliment those gorgeous baby blues.  I think it was pretty successful, but when you're as handsome as Jax, you'll make anything look great!
